Problem

MAK ONE Applications (VR-Forces, VR-Engage, and VR-Vantage) cache common images and files that are needed to run the product. All MAK ONE Product Installers include a packaged version of VC_Redist that installs necessary runtime components of the Visual C++ libraries. These components are required to run MAK ONE Applications. Other programs built with the Visual C++ compiler can install newer versions of VC_Redist.

Symptom

Crash when starting up MAK ONE Applications. The callstack.log generated from the crash will contain VCOMP140.dll.

Products Affected

All versions of MAK ONE applications including VR-Vantage, VR-Engage, and VR-Forces are affected.

Severity

High - This issue will prevent the MAK ONE applications from running.

Platform

This problem only occurs when using Microsoft Windows. It exists in at least Windows 10 and Windows 11. 

VC_Redist.x64.exe - Version 14.50.35503

Solution

MAK is unable to fix this issue as this is distributed by Microsoft themselves. We have let Microsoft know about the issue.

There are a few workarounds:

• Uninstall the newer VC_Redist.x64.exe from the Add or Remove Programs menu in Windows Settings. Then reinstall the VC_Redist.x64.exe contained in the top level of the MAK ONE installation folder.

• In the bin64 folder of the MAK ONE product installations, copy in a Version of VCOMP140.dll to the bin64 directory.

  • This VCOMP140.dll file must be version 14.44.35211.0 or earlier.
